Joel is very experienced at working with subjects of all ages. He does a great job capturing those subtle expressions of a newborn baby, playing "peek-a-boo" with a toddler to get that special look, and helping children relax and feel right at home by being as silly as they are. He has even been know to get a smile out of the toughest high school senior boys who insist that he "doesn't smile in pictures."

Joel Moore grew up working in his parent's photography studio in Leeds, Alabama. He was making pictures and working in the darkroom when he was 7 years old. He earned his first bicycle by doing a large photography job for a client. Joel's passion for photography lead him to pursue a degree in professional photography after high school. He graduated in 1981 from the Southeast School of Photography.

Joel moved to Auburn in 1988 where he continued his career in professional photography as the photographer for Auburn University. In 1989 he opened Moore Studios, photographing weddings and children's portraits. In 1994, Joel's work with Moore Studios had grown to the point that he left his position as photographer for Auburn University to pursue his business with Moore Studios full time. In 1996 Moore Studios relocated to a larger and more convenient location on East University Drive in Auburn.

Joel received the prestigious PPA National Award in 1997, The Southeastern Award for Outstanding Service in 1998, and the Outstanding Service Award from Senior Photographers International in 2000. He served as President of the Professional Photographers of Mississippi-Alabama in 2001 and was on the Southeastern Professional Photographers Association board of Governors in 2001.

Joel's photography has been chosen for awards in professional photography competitions over 30 times.
